How it works?
COUNSELLING SESSIONS
BUILDING RESILIENCE IN YOUNG PEOPLE
1
NEW CLIENT CONSULTATION
30 mins
I arrange a free initial telephone consultation with the parent(s)/carer (or client) to discuss your situation and what you hope to achieve. I will also explain how I work and answer any questions you have. It's a good opportunity for us both to see if my approach is suitable for you or your young person.

Please click the button below and select New Client Consultation on the left side.
2
FIRST COUNSELLING SESSION
50 mins
The first session is your chance to meet with me, either on your own or with your child, or your child independently. It's a chance to build a rapport with your child and ask some questions so I can make a recommendation to you.

I will send a parental consent contract detailing our collaboration and ask for permission to work with your child.

In the first session, I will do an assessment where we will:

• Explore what issues the child/young person would like to bring to therapy
• Explore what the child/young person is expecting to get out of therapy
• Explain how I work and the limits of confidentiality
• Answer any other questions the child/young may have

You are not fixed, so you can book the first session and let your child decide if it's right for them. Some children and young people I see may need time to get used to the idea and will let you know when they're ready.

Please click the button below and select First Counselling Session (In-Person or Telehealth) on the left-hand side.

Please note that I would prefer the first session to be in person if possible.
3
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING SESSION
50 mins
After the first session, I will call you to discuss the next steps, and if you wish to proceed, we can agree on a weekly session time of 50 minutes allocated at the same time each week, usually in 6-week blocks followed by a review.

Please click the button below and select Individual Counselling Session (In-Person or Telehealth) on the left-hand side.
4
CARER REVIEW SESSION
30 mins
After the agreed block of sessions, typically six weeks. Let's have a review session to discuss your child's progress and answer any questions you have.
As the sessions are confidential, I will discuss this with your child first so we know they're happy with what I am sharing. This is a good place to agree to a closure session or to continue with more sessions.

Please click the button below and select Carer Review Session on the left-hand side.
5
CLOSURE SESSION
50 mins
Closure in counselling is a valuable part of the therapeutic journey. It signifies the end of our collaborative work. We will review your progress, strategize, and get ready for the conclusion of your treatment while evaluating your readiness and establishing a foundation for future support during challenging life transitions. This preparation equips you with coping strategies, tools, and skills while also keeping the possibility of resuming our work, if needed.

Rest assured, I will be there to guide you through this transition and ensure it's smooth and secure.

Please click the button below and select Closure Session (In-Person or Telehealth) on the left-hand side.

Please note that I would prefer the closure session to be in person if possible.

Promise me you'll always remember — you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
